Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Location Data: Location information is processed entirely on your device to show nearby stations and calculate distances. We do not collect, transmit, or store your location data on our servers. Location services are optional, and you can use the app without enabling them.
- Usage Information: We collect anonymized usage statistics (such as screens viewed and features used) linked to a randomly generated identifier (UUID) that cannot be used to identify you personally. This data is aggregated and cannot identify individual users. This data is stored on servers in Australia (Linode/Akamai).
- Favorite Stops: Your saved favorite stops are stored locally on your device using SwiftData. If you enable iCloud sync on your device, your favorite stops will be stored in your personal iCloud account and synced across your Apple devices. This data is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Device Information: We collect basic device information such as device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide real-time train departure information and updates
- Enable Live Activities when you initiate them to track specific trains
- Personalize your experience with saved routes and preferences
- Improve our app's functionality and user experience
- Analyze aggregated usage patterns to enhance our services
Data Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share anonymized, aggregated usage data with:
- Service Providers: Linode/Akamai provides cloud hosting services in Australia for our analytics data. For more information, see Linode/Akamai's Privacy Policy.
- Apple: In-app purchases are processed by Apple. We do not collect or store your payment information. For more information, see Apple's Privacy Policy.
We access publicly available train schedule data from Queensland Rail's Open Data portal but do not share any of your information with Queensland Rail.
Data Storage and Security
All data we collect is stored on servers located in Australia. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention
We retain anonymized usage data for as long as necessary to improve our services and analyze app performance. You can delete locally stored data (including favorite stops) by deleting the app from your device. If you use iCloud sync, you will need to delete this data from your iCloud account separately.
Your Rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your data (we will respond within 30 days)
- Disable location services in your device settings at any time
- Use the app without enabling optional features like location services or iCloud sync
Children's Privacy
Our app is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.
International Use
This app is intended for use in Australia only. All data is stored on servers located in Australia.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
